Michael Jackson 14
Motivated by the great interest and compliments I received about my Michael Jackson portraits, I have done another one yesterday, and it might be the start of another series of him…
But it is difficult to come up with new stuff. Michael has been painted so many times… whole sites are dedicated to art featuring him!
So I juts try to catch him in different views and lights.. I geenrally like it a lot when he is evanescent, almost transparent, almost like a ghost, which, i think, fits quite well to the new sad situation…
Although of course, he will never reach the state of ghost, Michael is omnipresent for ever, in the hearts and thoughts of the people who loved him. i am one of them. And this will never change…
Bob Marley 02
ell, I guess I get very insired by Bob, and have decided to make a whole series… i know, there are already many Bob Marley portraits paintings in the world, but well, somehow everyone eis a little it different, conveying the way we perceive these artists and their music…
Bob Marley 01
I heard Bob Marley for the first time around 1980… I was spending some days in the Provence, y my brother, he played him to em and at once I loved it… his voice and the whole life feeling I heard in it simply met my wavelength. I recorded the disc on a cassette -which I still have!- and since them, i never stopped listening to him, aleays with the same delight.
I have wanted to dedicate him a series of art work for a long time yet, but somehow, there were always some other priorities… who knows why I suddenly started tonight… perhaps because Kev Moore came back to me from a gig in Germany, and he is a wonderful interpret of Bob Marley’s songs… who knows!
Miguel Angel Jimenez
This is a portrait i started some weeks ago, I don;t even remember at which tournament it was… I forgot to finish it, busy with some other painting projects and travels. But I have just seen that he is doing again great at The BMW Italian Open this week, one birdy after the other, and I suddenly remember the portrait. Well, i still haven’t finished the portrait, but after having looked at it, I think it is quite ok as it is. Anyway I can’t really work on past stuff, it is for me like drinking cold coffee, or wearing second hand clothes… i can’t1
I know that the similarity is not really reached, the eyes for example are to big, and the mouth is not exactly his, and the ears are not well-formet yet
But still, I think I have caught some of that fantastic golfer in it, I believe one can recognise him. Funny is that today, on the third day of the Italian Open, he is wearing a golf shirt in that same orange colour, which is by the way the reason why I remembered the portrait: as I started it I had been strongly motivated by his shirt!
